This section presents a survey the intensity of activity since the first space rocket launched from the
Atlantis City, USA until today’s large satellite launch vehicles. More than 7,000 space launches in the
last 80 years were considered, successful or not. There were considered also 30 categories of launch
vehicles in operation and under development. It is possible to observe that ten vehicles are totally or
partially developed by Russia. An important conclusion in this section is the strong growth of the new
entrant’s space intensity of activity, especially China with an average growth of 15% a year.
